I don’t know if it’s the time of the year, or just me, but I’ve been feeling very stressed recently! A year ago I was working 75+ hours a week, and now just a regular 40-45… so I can’t really blame the amount of work can I!? Perhaps this extra stress can be attributed to dealing with annoying people (well actually, yes that is my biggest issue) and it’s been weighing down on me for some time.
In addition to the regular ‘ol emotional symptoms of stress, I’ve also got some physical ones too! Let’s just say my nails, skin and hair are all suffering… and don’t even get me started on my overall shape! So I can definitely say with confidence that I am looking forward to my 2 week vacation and honeymoon excursion! In less than one week the only stress I’ll want to have is worrying about making it on time for flights and connections and hoping my luggage makes it in. But even if it doesn’t (which I have had experience with a few times); it usually comes in a few hours later on a different flight. Heck, even if they lose it, I probably won’t complain that I have to buy more clothes 🙂
But anyways, back to the stress! I find when I get stressed at work, or with a client, etc… it just de-motivates me to do any other work (is de-motivates a word?). I just become so lethargic and lazy… which we could argue leads to the whole body shape not being up to snuff thing, but I digress! I find that I’m either super-motivated and working 100% all the time, or the complete opposite, or to paraphrase Drake, either 0 or 100. (actually, that’s just taking it in a whole different context).
So I guess I really want to know, what’s the best way to motivate yourself, especially when you’re stressed about something? Heck, even if you’re not stressed, sometimes motivation comes in spurts; but for me, it’s usually a symptom of something. So for now, I will try and accomplish small and simple creative tasks, and that way I hope to get excited about working on bigger projects… we will see!
